4th CSD Remscheid — Queer Bergisches Land
The Christopher Street Day Remscheid is entering its 4th edition on Saturday, September 19, 2026. What began in 2023 as Remscheid's first independent Pride demonstration has developed into a firm fixture in the NRW queer calendar within just a few years. Between 600 and 1,500 participants from Remscheid, the Bergisches Land, and surrounding major cities are expected.
Route — From Rathausplatz Through the City Center
The Pride march starts at Rathausplatz in Remscheid-Mitte. The demonstration will visibly pass through the major Bergisches Land city via Hindenburgstraße and other inner-city streets. The destination is the Stadtpark, where the closing program with a stage, info booths, and celebration will take place.
Politics Meets Culture
Like all Christopher Street Day events, CSD Remscheid combines a political demonstration with a cultural program. Key focuses for 2026:
- Safe Spaces for Queer Youth — Protection from violence and discrimination
- Counselling Services — Networking of queer counselling centers in the Bergisches Land
- Raising Awareness in Schools — Education against LGBTQ bullying
- Visibility in the Countryside — Queer life outside the major cities
Previous Editions — A Growing Movement
The previous CSD dates in Remscheid: September 16, 2023 (Premiere), September 21, 2024, September 20, 2025. With each edition, the number of participants, the visibility of the demands, and the networking with neighboring CSDs (Wuppertal, Solingen, Erkrath, Leverkusen) have grown. CSD Remscheid 2026 fits into a busy Pride calendar: CSD Solingen July 25, CSD Wuppertal September 12, CSD Erkrath June 27, CSD Leverkusen June 21.
Remscheid — Tool City in the Bergisches Land
Remscheid is an independent city in the Bergisches Land region of North Rhine-Westphalia with around 112,000 inhabitants. Known as the Tool City and the birthplace of Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen (discoverer of X-rays). The city is located between Wuppertal and Solingen on the heights of the Bergisches Land — geographically and culturally distinct, far from the Rhenish metropolises. The CSD contributes to the visibility of queer life in this traditionally more conservative region.
A Life Free From Discrimination — For All
The motto of CSD Remscheid 2026 follows the annual demand: a life free from discrimination — for all. The Pride march is not just a party, but a political statement. At the same time, it creates space for queer visibility, encounters, and the celebration of diversity.
