Craftsmen's Festival for Thanksgiving — Nieder Neuendorf

Thanksgiving by the Havel Canal

Hennigsdorf, the town 20 km northwest of Berlin in the Oberhavel district, has one of the most beautiful waterfront locations in the Berlin metropolitan area in its Nieder Neuendorf district, at the transition from the Havel Canal to the Nieder Neuendorfer See. The tongue of land — a narrow peninsula — is a summer recreation area and, in October, the venue for the municipal Craftsmen's Festival for Thanksgiving.

Regional Crafts

Exhibitors from Havelland, Oberhavel, and Prignitz present basket weaving, woodturning, blacksmithing, wood carving, pottery, and felt crafts. The traditional Thanksgiving focus is evident in the sales stands for regional food products: honey, apple varieties from the Uckermark, goat cheese, wood-fired bread, preserved vegetables.

Stage and Family Program

Live bands from the region play on the stage — mostly with a folkloric or acoustic touch (Folk, Country, Bluegrass).
