Charity Adventsmarkt (Advent market) at Reichstagufer with handcrafts from CJD workshops – December 2026 (date to be confirmed)
In Berlin's Mitte borough, between the river Spree and the Bundestag building, the Christliches Jugenddorfwerk Deutschlands (CJD) invites visitors every December to its Adventsmarkt on the premises of the Federal Government Press Office at Reichstagufer 14. Located between the Spree, the Bundestag and Friedrichstraße, the market is one of the most central Advent events in Berlin.
The Christliches Jugenddorfwerk Deutschlands is one of Germany's largest socio-educational and special-needs education and welfare organisations. At around 350 sites, it supports more than 155,000 children, young people and adults with support needs every year. In the CJD workshops, people with disabilities or special learning needs make handcrafted products – from wood, glass, ceramics, metal, textile and other materials.
The market's range brings this workshop production together as a Christmas offering: lovingly crafted Advent calendars, Christmas tree decorations, wooden horses, nativity figures, silk scarves, toys, small pieces of furniture and accessories. Each piece is a one-off or a small series. Prices range from small souvenirs to elaborate wooden objects. All proceeds go back to the facilities.
The market is deliberately small and focused. Instead of a large Glühwein spectacle, the emphasis is on selling the workshop products and on conversations with the staff. Reichstagufer is just a few minutes' walk from both S-Bahn Friedrichstraße and the Brandenburg Gate – ideal for a stop during an inner-city walk.
The CJD Adventsmarkt traditionally takes place on an Advent weekend in December. The exact dates for December 2026 will be published on cjd.de and on the Berlin Advent market directory at berlin.de. Admission is free.
