Sports and Campus Festival of Constructor University in Bremen-Grohn
Once a year, the campus of Constructor University in Bremen-Grohn transforms into a large area for movement and interaction: At Campus Moves!, the student sports clubs of the international university present their activities. Under the motto Showcase Your Sports Club, the aim is to make the diverse sports life of the campus visible and to spark enthusiasm for participation — an open community event in the green north of the state of Bremen.
Constructor University is known for its vibrant sports culture. Football, basketball, rowing, rugby, cricket, CrossFit, badminton, martial arts, and volleyball are just as much a part of it as student-led clubs in the fields of art, culture, dance, community, and technology. The university has extensive facilities, including a Sports and Convention Center with four multi-purpose sports halls, a fitness area, and a rowing tank. Campus Moves! bundles this energy into one day and makes the campus an open place where sport connects — across subjects, nations, and generations.
The approximately 34-hectare, park-like campus is located in the Grohn district in the north of Bremen, near Vegesack, and looks back on a eventful history: built in 1936 as Flak-Kaserne Grohn, after World War II it was the US headquarters for the Bremen enclave, used by the Bundeswehr as Roland-Kaserne from 1955, and decommissioned in 1999. In the same year, the university — initially as International University Bremen, later Jacobs University, and since 2022 Constructor University — was founded with the support of the University of Bremen, Rice University in Houston, and the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. In autumn 2001, 130 students from 40 countries began operations together with 27 professors.
Campus Moves! is aimed at the international campus community of students, staff, and guests — a colorful, cosmopolitan mix. With the festival, the university consciously opens up to its surroundings and also invites the neighborhood from the north of Bremen to a day full of movement, interaction, and student life.
On Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 12:00 PM, Constructor University invites you to Campus Moves! on its campus at Campus Ring 1 in Bremen-Grohn. Under the guiding principle Showcase Your Sports Club, the student sports clubs will present their activities and invite participation. The festival is conceived as an inclusive event for movement and interaction, where people with and without disabilities come together — in previous years, it was organized together with partners MartinsClub Bremen and Hoodtraining. Activities offered recently included Calisthenics and Street Workout, Volleyball, Viking Chess, inclusive games, as well as live music and dance acts by campus artists. As an event in the Community and Student Life category, Campus Moves! brings together students, staff, and the neighborhood from northern Bremen; snacks and drinks were provided free of charge in previous years.
Program structure based on previous editions; the specific program for the day in 2026, including times and participating acts, will be published by Constructor University on its event page (constructor.university/events).
The Constructor University campus is located at Campus Ring 1 in the Bremen-Grohn district. Accessible by the Regio-S-Bahn (Bremen-Vegesack/Grohn station) and the bus lines of northern Bremen.
