City Run in the City Center
The HVB Citylauf Aschaffenburg transforms the city center of the district capital on the Bavarian Lower Main into a running track. The start is at the intersection of Weißenburger Straße/Luitpoldstraße, and the finish line is at the market square in front of Johannisburg Castle. The course runs through the historic city center and offers participants and spectators along the streets an intense urban running experience.
Competition Formats
The Citylauf is divided into three main categories: The Kids Runs (3 races for birth years 2011 to 2016) over approx. 1.6 km, the Team Challenges (2 races) over approx. 5 km, and the Main Races (2 races) over approx. 8 km. This makes the event broadly appealing – from preschool age to athletically ambitious running groups.
Sponsorship and Organization
The main sponsor is HypoVereinsbank (HVB); other partners like Klinikum Aschaffenburg-Alzenau support individual race categories. Timing and online registration are handled by maxx-timing.de. Entry fees are 20 Euros for adults; youth races are free.
Aschaffenburg am Main
Aschaffenburg is an independent city on the Bavarian Lower Main (AGS 09661), known for Johannisburg Castle, the Pompejanum, and Schönbusch Palace. The Citylauf brings the city center to life with a special evening atmosphere once a year: cheers along the streets, illuminated facades, and finally the finish line in front of the castle characterize the scene.
