Longest Schützenfest in the Celle district — two weekends from August 7th to 16th, 2026
The Schützenverein Ahnsbeck von 1710/1876 e.V. (Marksmen's Association) carries its long history in its name: the roots reach back to the year 1710, and the current association structure was founded in 1876. This makes the association one of the oldest marksmen's associations in the Celle district, with a tradition spanning over 300 years. The annual Schützenfest is the highlight of the association's year and the most important village event in Ahnsbeck.
One special feature sets Ahnsbeck apart from the many Schützenfeste in the region: the festival extends over two full weekends — a duration that is otherwise unusual in the district. In 2026, the festival runs from August 7th to 16th. This creates space for an exceptionally extensive program with several dance balls, the King's Shoot, a grand festival parade, a family day, and morning pint events held in stages.
Ahnsbeck is located east of Celle in the Samtgemeinde Lachendorf (collective municipality). The village belongs to those rural communities in the Südheide region whose social life is strongly shaped by marksmen's traditions, associations, and local heritage. The marksmen's association has several hundred members and is deeply rooted in the village community.
The King's Shoot is the heart of the festival: the new King, his court, and usually a Queen are chosen from among the participating marksmen. During the festival parade, the marksmen march through the village in uniform, accompanied by marching bands and music groups. In the festival tent, dance bands and DJ sets create a lively atmosphere, while the morning pint and family day connect with the entire village.
The detailed program for 2026 will be published by the marksmen's association in advance. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years over two weekends:
Ahnsbeck is located east of Celle in the Samtgemeinde Lachendorf. Arrive by car via the B 191 (Celle–Wittingen). Parking is available at the Schützenplatz (marksmen's grounds) and in the surrounding streets.
Admission fees apply for dance balls held on-site. The festival parade, morning pint, and family day are traditionally free to attend.
Since the festival spans two weekends, the second part of the event is also worthwhile for marksmen enthusiasts: the final festival parade on August 16th, 2026, is a highlight featuring many friendly associations.
