Carnival Highlight on the Moselle
Senheim and Senhals are two Moselle towns that have always been closely connected. Senhals is now a district of Senheim and is located directly above the main town on the Moselle hillside. Both towns jointly maintain a vibrant carnival tradition, the secular highlight of which is the Rosenmontagszug (Rose Monday Parade).
Unlike most carnival parades in the region, which take place on Carnival Sunday, Senheim-Senhals has moved its parade to Rose Monday. This choice gives the parade a special position in the regional carnival calendar – those who celebrated elsewhere on Sunday can enjoy the carnival finale in Senheim-Senhals on Monday.
The parade starts punctually at 2:11 PM and follows a route that connects both towns. Floats, walking groups, carnival clubs, drum corps, and guard dancers from Senheim, Senhals, Mesenich, Ediger-Eller, and the surrounding villages parade through the main streets. The floats, with wit and self-irony, address local topics, political events, and social phenomena.
After the parade, the carnival activities move to the pubs, clubhouses, and the carnival club's hall. Celebrations continue late into the night with Moselle wine, beer, and carnival music. Those who want to experience authentic Moselle carnival on Rose Monday will find it in Senheim-Senhals.
The 2026 Rose Monday Parade starts punctually at 2:11 PM. The assembly point and route will be announced by the Senheim-Senhals Carnival Club a few weeks before the event. Arriving at least half an hour before the parade starts is recommended.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the Senheim-Senhals Carnival Club in January. The structure will follow the proven cornerstones of previous years:
