About BurgArt

Twice a year, the old castle of Neustadt-Glewe transforms into a market for plants, crafts, and artisanal products: the BurgArt. In spring, the "Frühlingserwachen" (Spring Awakening) edition attracts visitors, and in autumn, the "Goldener Herbst" (Golden Autumn) edition. Both times, stalls with flowers, garden supplies, artisanal products, and food line the castle courtyard and grounds. There are also small workshops, children's activities, and musical entertainment. The historic setting of Mecklenburg's oldest preserved fortified castle provides a special backdrop for browsing the market. Admission is free – a relaxed excursion destination for families and lovers of gardens and crafts.

A Market with Two Dates

The BurgArt is a market for plants and artisanal crafts, held twice a year at Neustadt-Glewe Castle – a small town in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district (state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). The spring edition is themed "Frühlingserwachen" (Spring Awakening), and the autumn edition is called "Goldener Herbst" (Golden Autumn). Thus, BurgArt accompanies the changing seasons, offering a product range suitable for each season.

Plants, Crafts, and Artisanal Products

The market features flower and plant vendors as well as suppliers for home and garden. Additionally, artists, craftspeople, and artisans present their creations. Those looking for inspiration for their garden, home, or a special gift will find it here – and can watch the producers at work.

Program for the Whole Family

The BurgArt is more than just a shopping trip. Small workshops and hands-on stations – such as felting, wood and soapstone carving, or archery – invite visitors to try their hand at crafts. A children's train and musical entertainment, including maritime and Irish folk music or walking acts, complete the program. Culinary offerings range from sweet to savory to vegetarian.

Market in a Historic Setting

The venue is Neustadt-Glewe Castle, built in the 13th century and the oldest preserved fortified castle in Mecklenburg. This historic environment makes visiting BurgArt an excursion that combines market, culture, and history. BurgArt is organized by the town of Neustadt-Glewe in cooperation with the Neustadt-Glewe Trade Association (Gewerbeverein Neustadt-Glewe e.V.).

BurgArt — edition 2026

In 2026, BurgArt will take place twice: on April 26 as "Frühlingserwachen" (Spring Awakening) and on September 27 as "Goldener Herbst" (Golden Autumn). From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, plant, garden, and craft vendors will offer their goods at Neustadt-Glewe Castle, complemented by workshops, children's activities, and live music. Admission is free.

BurgArt 2026 has two dates: On Sunday, April 26, the spring edition "Frühlingserwachen" (Spring Awakening) invites visitors to Neustadt-Glewe Castle, and on Sunday, September 27, the autumn edition "Goldener Herbst" (Golden Autumn) follows. Both markets are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free.

The market features flower and plant vendors, suppliers for home and garden, as well as artists and artisans. The accompanying program includes small workshops and hands-on stations, a children's train, and musical entertainment. Culinary offerings range from sweet to savory to vegetarian.
