Almabtrieb in the Werdenfelser Land

The Almabtrieb in Krün is one of the most impressive traditional festivals in the Alpenwelt Karwendel in the Werdenfelser Land. When summer ends on the alpine pastures, the cattle are driven back to the valley, festively decorated – a centuries-old Alpine custom that also expresses gratitude for an accident-free summer on the pastures.

From the Village Entrance to the Sports Field

The cattle are led from the southern village entrance via Karwendelstraße and Schöttelkarspitzstraße to the Nachscheid at the sports field. Along the route, local clubs and caterers offer regional specialties and welcome visitors with market stalls from regional providers for browsing and enjoyment.

Village Festival and Farmers' Market

Around the Almabtrieb, Krün transforms into a lively festival ground: there is a colorful program of events and musical entertainment, draft beer, regional specialties, as well as coffee and cake. The Flößerspielplatz (rafting playground) is available for children. The farmers' market with regional producers complements the festival. The Almabtrieb with village festival and farmers' market takes place in any weather.
