Local heritage festival and craft market around the Alte Vogtei — featuring Däggelsbläddze baked in a cannon stove and the Siegerland Classic Oldtimer Rally
The Burbach Vogteifest is one of the most traditional local heritage festivals in Siegerland. The centre of the festival is the Alte Vogtei Burbach at Ginnerbach 2 — a historic half-timbered building that represents the former administrative seat of the Vogtei and is now operated by the Heimatverein Alte Vogtei e.V. (Local Heritage Association). From Saturday, August 29th to Sunday, August 30th, 2026, the area around the Vogtei will transform into a heritage festival stage with live music, crafts, and Siegerland culinary specialties.
The large craft market is the heart of the Vogteifest. Artisans from Burbach and the Siegerland region present their work: woodwork, ceramics, jewelry, textile design, leatherwork, blacksmithing, glasswork. Visitors can watch the artisans at work — an aspect that distinguishes the Vogteifest from regular sales markets.
The culinary highlight is the Burbacher Däggelsbläddze — a local specialty baked in homemade cannon stoves directly on the festival grounds. The baking process itself is part of the attraction: you can watch the dough being prepared in the traditional ovens and taste the fresh baked goods immediately. A tradition preserved only in Burbach and its surroundings.
The stage programme is typically festive:
A special feature in 2026: On Sunday, August 30th, 2026, the Siegerland Classic — a well-known oldtimer rally through the Siegerland region — will conclude at the Vogteifest. The arrival of historic vehicles is a highlight for car enthusiasts and anyone wanting to experience Siegerland from an unusual perspective.
Burbach is located in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district in southern Siegerland, on the border with Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. With around 14,700 inhabitants, the municipality is manageable but culturally active. The low mountain landscape with the Rothaargebirge Nature Park is a hiking paradise — visitors to the Vogteifest can combine their visit with a hike.
A classic Siegerland heritage festival featuring artisans, local specialties, and a live programme. The Alte Vogtei serves as the historic centre, with the Heimatverein as the organiser.
