Largest Open-Air Festival in the Tri-border Area – Annually on the 2nd Saturday in July
The Haiger Old Town Festival takes place annually on the second Saturday in July – in 2026, that will be July 11. It is considered the largest open-air festival in the tri-border area of Hesse–NRW–Rhineland-Palatinate: between Siegen, Marburg, and Limburg, this date is the summer classic for the entire region.
The event traditionally kicks off with an Ecumenical Service in the Evangelical City Church starting at 6 PM. Afterwards, visitors move into the old town – where the stages are already waiting.
Until 12 AM, various bands will play on several stages in the historic old town of Haiger – from rock and pop to Schlager and folk and cover acts. Beverage sales continue until 1 AM. The exact band names will be communicated via the city's website and press channels before the event.
What makes the Haiger Old Town Festival special: Over 31 clubs handle the catering – sports clubs, fire departments, church groups, carnival clubs, heritage societies. Proceeds go into the club treasuries. This turns the town festival into a collective event for the entire club scene.
So that residents of the surrounding Haiger districts (including Allendorf, Dillbrecht, Flammersbach, Fellerdilln, Langenaubach, Offdilln, Roßbachtal, Rodenbach, Sechshelden, Steinbach, Weidelbach) can also celebrate the festival, there is a bus shuttle. This integrates the entire Lahn-Dill region.
Haiger is a medium-sized town in the Lahn-Dill district with around 20,000 inhabitants. Its location at the tri-border area of Hesse–NRW–Rhineland-Palatinate makes the city a transport hub – and the Old Town Festival an attraction for three federal states.
Haiger's location directly at the intersection of the three federal states of Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Rhineland-Palatinate makes the Old Town Festival an interregional event: visitors come from Siegen and Olpe (NRW), Westerwald (RLP), and of course from the Lahn-Dill district. This location is also the reason for the festival's strict club structure – only volunteer club catering, no commercial caterers.
An evening festival in Haiger's old town with several open-air stages, club stands, and a musical program until midnight. The exact band names will be communicated on the city of Haiger's website before the festival begins.
