Indoor festival for metal and hard rock at the Bluesclub Meisenfrei
When the big open-air festivals are long over in November, the Bremer Metal Festival takes centre stage at the Bluesclub Meisenfrei. Since 2010, the Local Radio team has been bringing metal and hard rock bands to the stage over two evenings at the traditional club in Hankenstraße, right in the heart of Bremen's Old Town, just a few minutes' walk from the market square. The November date is intentional: it's meant to bridge the long dry spell until the next festival season and provide a stage for the regional scene in the Bremen region during the dark months.
The Bluesclub Meisenfrei was opened in 1997 next to a legendary pub as a cosy live music club with a large stage and can accommodate a maximum of around 300 guests. Over the years, it has become an integral part of Bremen's cultural scene: blues dominates on weekends, supplemented by related genres and a monthly metal event. This mix makes it the ideal venue for a festival that prioritizes proximity over large halls — short distances between stage and audience, loud guitars, a dedicated community.
The focus is on German metal and rock bands, many of them from Bremen and the surrounding North German region, complemented by European guests. Local Radio has been broadcasting metal, hard rock, rock, and blues via Radio Weser.TV every Tuesday since 2004 — the festival is the natural extension of this passion onto the stage. This gives up-and-coming regional bands a place in the spotlight alongside established acts.
Over more than fifteen editions, the Bremer Metal Festival has established itself as a reliable autumn meeting point for the North German metal scene. Those who want to experience the loud, unvarnished side of the Hanseatic city will find a down-to-earth festival here, run voluntarily by enthusiasts, which makes regional bands visible and consistently nurtures Bremen's club culture.
On November 6 and 7, 2026, the Bremer Metal Festival will enter its 16th edition. The venue once again is the Bluesclub Meisenfrei in Bremen's Old Town. Over two festival evenings, Local Radio will bring a program of regional and European metal and rock bands to the stage. Preparations are underway, and the complete lineup will be published on bremer-metalfestival.de.
The 16th edition of the Bremer Metal Festival will take place on Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the Bluesclub Meisenfrei in Bremen's Old Town. Organized by the team from Local Radio, which has been broadcasting metal, hard rock, rock, and blues since 2004 and particularly supports newcomers from the region.
Local Radio confirms for 2026: „The 16th Bremen Festival on 06.11. + 07.11.2026 is already in the works…“. The specific band list per evening, set times, and ticket prices will be published on bremer-metalfestival.de as well as the Local Radio website — no fabricated lineup will be presented here.
