Advent Market in an Odenwald Idyll

The Buchen Christmas Market is one of the most traditional Advent markets in northern Baden-Württemberg. The setting is picture-perfect: the 15th-century Old Town Hall with its distinctive bay window, the City Tower as a landmark, complemented by half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets. Wimpinaplatz forms the center of the market, from which the stalls radiate out to the main street.

2026 — Four Days of Festivities with a Program

From Thursday, November 26th, to Sunday, November 29th, 2026, the Buchen town center will be transformed. Around 40 stalls will offer arts and crafts and culinary specialties, along with a varied stage and family program. The event is organized by the city of Buchen (Odenwald) in the Neckar-Odenwald district.

Program Highlights 2026

• Thursday — After-Work Party with the band Rusty Move, mulled wine, and snacks (kick-off to the Advent season)
• Friday — Opening by the Buchen City Band at the start of the market
• Saturday — Mulled Wine Party with the band Realusion in the evening, plus a visit from St. Nicholas and free city tours in the afternoon
• Sunday — Family activities, free city tour, Advent music with local choirs

• Carousel on Wimpinaplatz
• Craft activities and creative stalls in the city library
• Petting zoo with donkeys (regularly present in previous years)
• Fairy tale puppet show on Sunday at 3 PM
• City bus free to the market until December 24th

Buchen and the Neckar-Odenwald District

Buchen (Odenwald) is a major district town in the Neckar-Odenwald district — the northernmost district of Baden-Württemberg, nestled between the hills of the Odenwald and the valleys of the Jagst and Neckar rivers. The town has around 17,000 inhabitants and serves as a central hub for the rural region. The old town is a highlight of Swabian-Franconian city architecture, for which the Christmas market provides the ideal setting.
