One of the largest folk festivals in the Taunus region
The Brunnenfest Oberursel is organized by the Vereinsring Oberursel e.V. and is considered "living tradition" – a folk festival supported by around 50 local clubs. The clubs operate the catering stands, design the program, and finance their year-round activities through the festival days. This makes the Brunnenfest more than just a town festival: it is the economic and social lifeline of Oberursel's club life.
The main venue is the historic old town. The central Frankfurter-Volksbank-Bühne is located on the Marktplatz (Market Square) with a live program on all festival days. Another focal point is the Hospitalplatz opposite the Kulturcafé Windrose, where the Windrose-Bühne hosts cabaret, songs, and music (capacity around 100 seats and 200 standing places). In 2026, Windrose celebrates its 50th anniversary with an inclusive stage program – on Saturday afternoon, young musicians with and without disabilities will perform there. Additional smaller stages are spread throughout the old town, featuring local bands and party acts.
The traditional fairground attractions with rides and carousels will take place in 2026 as usual on the "Bleiche" festival grounds. Due to ongoing bridge renovation on Portstraße, a 4.80 m wide access path has been set up as a temporary measure; the city has also established a mobile medical station on site. Background: In the winter of 2025/26, frost and snow delayed construction work on the bridge, so the festival is adapted but will proceed as planned.
The Brunnenfest is one of the few folk festivals in the region that still crowns a Brunnenkönigin (Fountain Queen). The election and crowning as part of the festival has been a program highlight and a moment of identification for the city for decades. Oberursel itself – located in the Vordertaunus between Frankfurt and the Feldberg – celebrates the festival the weekend before Pentecost as one of the most important dates in its event calendar.
The Brunnenfest runs from Friday to Monday (Whit Monday). Organizer: Vereinsring Oberursel e.V. with around 50 member clubs. Fairground attractions on the Bleiche (with temporary access due to Portstraße bridge renovation).
Free admission. Consumption at the club stands, rides according to provider.

The "Frühschoppen" (morning pint) on Sunday and Monday mornings is a tradition. The Windrose-Bühne is an intimate alternative to the large open-air stages in the market area.
