Brandenburgische Wassermusiken
Four Days of Open-Air Concerts on the Beetzsee Regatta Course
2026
About Wassermusiken
Wassermusiken — edition 2026
The 2026 festival continues its successful formula: four days of open-air music against the waterscape of the Beetzsee. The highlight is the benefit concert on Saturday, August 22: The Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra will perform works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Richard Wagner, Henry Purcell, and Benjamin Britten under the motto "A Midsummer Night's Dream" — in cooperation with the Lions Club Brandenburg, with the net proceeds going to charitable projects. Tickets start at €12, admission and catering from 5:00 PM, concert starts at 7:30 PM.
On Sunday, the Brandenburg State Orchestra, conducted by Takao Ukigaya, will perform a classical concert (4:00 PM). Thursday and Friday will offer contemporary programmes that vary depending on the season. From the concert area, the audience has a direct view of the Beetzsee.

Classical Music on the Beetzsee — Brandenburg's Open-Air Spectacle
The Beetzsee regatta course in Brandenburg an der Havel is one of Germany's most important rowing venues — Olympic and World Cup competitions take place here. But in August, the water belongs to music: The Brandenburgische Wassermusiken invites you for a long weekend of concerts on a stage overlooking the lake. The Brandenburg Theatre is the organizer, responsible for one of Brandenburg's most ambitious theatre programmes with venues in the city and on the water.
Four Days, Four Sound Worlds
Thursday and Friday are dedicated to contemporary music — jazz, world music, occasionally also pop and crossover. Saturday and Sunday are for classical music: Saturday is the big benefit evening with the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra, organized in cooperation with the Lions Club Brandenburg. Sunday belongs to the Brandenburg State Orchestra. The programme changes from year to year, but the festival's architecture — four days, with the city's waters as a stage backdrop — remains.
Brandenburg Summer of Culture
The Wassermusiken are embedded in the “Brandenburgischer Kultursommer” (Brandenburg Summer of Culture) — the city's official summer cultural initiative with venues, programmes, and festivals throughout the summer season. The Wassermusiken mark the artistic high point of this programme. Anyone in Brandenburg an der Havel in August should plan for at least one Wassermusiken evening.
Surroundings: Havel River and Cathedral City
Brandenburg an der Havel, the old March capital with its three island cities Altstadt, Neustadt, and Dominsel, is worth a visit as a cathedral city anyway. The St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, the medieval old town, the Havel promenade, and the Slavic village make for a complete day. Travel by RE1 from Berlin in 50 minutes.
