Highlight of the regatta season on the Beetzsee regatta course
The Beetzsee Regatta Course in Brandenburg an der Havel is one of Germany's few world Olympic standard competition courses. It is located on the lake of the same name northwest of the old town, offering a 2000 m straight course and 9 lanes for canoe sprint and rowing. It has hosted world and European championships, World Cups, and German championships for decades; it was the training center for several generations of German canoe Olympians.
From August 31 to September 6, 2026, the German Canoe Sprint Championships will take place on the Beetzsee – the highest national competition level in the discipline. All age groups are represented – from school categories (U12, U14) through U17, U19, U23 to the Open and Masters classes. Para-canoe athletes will also compete for the titles.
According to a press release from the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, an official reception of the national team is planned for the first time at the regatta course in 2026. Spectators are invited to experience the top German athletes up close – including potential starters for the next Olympics.
The German Championships are the penultimate highlight of the season, already declared a record in 2025. 2026 continues with numerous international top events:
Spectators are welcome throughout the entire competition week, free admission. The finish line action is most impressive from the grandstand in the finish area by the boathouse; there are also several viewing points along the course. A festival tent and food stalls provide culinary catering.
The German Canoe Sprint Championships 2026 will take place from August 31 to September 6, 2026, on the traditional Beetzsee regatta course in Brandenburg an der Havel. The organizer is the Brandenburger Regattaverein in cooperation with the German Canoe Federation.
For a week, the best German canoeists of all age groups (U12 to Masters) will compete against each other in kayak (K1, K2, K4) and canoe (C1, C2, C4) over distances of 200 m, 500 m, 1000 m, and 5000 m. The Paracanoe classes (KL/VL) will also compete for the championship title. An official reception of the national team is planned for the first time. The German Championships form the penultimate highlight of a top-class Beetzsee season 2026, which began with the Canoe Sprint World Cup in May and the U19 Rowing European Championships.
