Fine wines under the linden tree in the heart of the Bremen village
Borgfeld is one of the most rural districts of the Hanseatic city of Bremen: an old village on the outskirts of the city, characterized by the Wümme meadows, an intact village center, and a particularly strong club life. Once a year – on the weekend after Ascension Day – the village square under the old linden tree becomes the focal point of the Borgfeld Wine Festival, one of the most popular wine festivals in the state of Bremen.
Around fifty stallholders set up in the village center, including about fifteen vintners from German wine regions – such as from Kirchheim, Dorsheim, and Eußenheim – as well as from Austria. They serve hand-picked wines, complemented by cocktails and culinary delights. Deck chairs, a new feel-good concept, live music, and dancing in the street create a relaxed summer atmosphere, while a children's program makes the festival family-friendly. The event attracts guests from all over Bremen and the surrounding area.
The wine festival is now supported by the newly founded "Förderverein Borgfelder Vereine" (FBV), an association of local businesses and committed citizens who have joined forces to put the festival on a secure organizational footing. A safety concept has been developed, and dialogue has been sought with residents. Many Borgfeld clubs are represented with their own stalls – the wine festival is therefore also a meeting point that strengthens the community life of the village.
On Sunday, Borgfeld's shops open for Sunday shopping, allowing you to combine the wine festival with a shopping spree. Those who want to experience rural, village-like Bremen away from the city center will find a charming district festival with wine enjoyment here – accessible by tram line 4 to the final stop Borgfeld.
On Saturday, May 16th (presumably 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM), and Sunday, May 17th, 2026 (presumably 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM), Borgfeld will celebrate its wine festival on the village square under the linden tree. Around fifty stallholders are registered, including about fifteen vintners from Kirchheim, Dorsheim, Eußenheim, and Austria. Hand-picked wines, cocktails, culinary delights, live music, and a children's program will be offered. On Sunday, Borgfeld's shops will be open from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM for Sunday shopping.
The Borgfeld Wine Festival 2026 will transform the village square under the linden tree and the adjacent village center into a two-day wine mile on the weekend after Ascension Day. For the first time, the festival is organized by the Förderverein Borgfelder Vereine (Board: Timon Hilken and Ernst Köhnken), with an initial awareness concept for guest safety.
