About Bölschefest
Bölschefest — edition 2026
Four Days of Festival Mile in Mid-May
The Bölschefest 2026 is scheduled for the days around Ascension Day: Thursday, May 14th (Father's Day) to Sunday, May 17th, 2026. The Bölschestraße is car-free along its entire length and equipped with stages, stalls, and food vendors.
New in 2026: No Fireworks
A change from previous years: the new management has cancelled the traditional fireworks display on Saturday evening over the Müggelsee. The festival is thus responding to environmental and animal welfare concerns – a step that many other Berlin festivals have followed in recent years.

Grand Street Festival in Southeast Berlin
The Bölschefest is the largest district festival in Berlin's Treptow-Köpenick borough and one of the capital's most traditional street festivals. For four days – usually extended around Ascension Day (Father's Day) – the Bölschestraße transforms into a car-free festival mile, 1.2 kilometres long, between the Friedrichshagen S-Bahn station and the Müggelsee.
Friedrichshagen — Bölsche and Müggelsee
Friedrichshagen is one of Berlin's best-preserved Wilhelminian-era districts and is located directly on the Müggelsee, the city's largest lake. The Bölschestraße connects the station to the lake and is the district's central business and shopping street. With its lime trees, old building facades, and cafés, it is considered one of Berlin's most beautiful neighbourhood streets – an ideal stage for a street festival.
What to Experience
The programme is spread across several stages along the street and combines several strands:
- Live Music: Rock, reggae, pop, Schlager, cover bands, and the Köpenick brass band
- Street Food and Gastronomy from the neighbourhood and international
- Arts and Crafts, Flea Markets, and Vintage – stalls, small galleries, small publishers
- Children's Programme: nostalgic children's Ferris wheel in the market square, puppet theatre, face painting
- Showmen and rides for families
- Sports Demonstrations by Berlin clubs
- Band Contest organised by the district office
Date and Tradition
The Bölschefest traditionally takes place around Ascension Day – a date also celebrated in Berlin as Vatertag/Herrentag (Father's Day/Men's Day), which makes the festival very well attended. For a long time, the festival was linked to a fireworks display over the Müggelsee on Saturday evening; the new management abolished the fireworks in 2026 – an ecologically motivated decision by the organisers.
Getting There and Admission
Admission is free. The S-Bahn line S3 goes directly to Friedrichshagen station, from where the Bölschestraße is within walking distance. Parking by car is scarce; arriving by train or bicycle is recommended.
