Grand neighborhood festival on Friedrichshagen's most famous promenade — art market, live music, and gastronomy
Bölschestraße in Friedrichshagen is one of the most famous shopping streets in East Berlin — a continuous axis with Wilhelminian architecture, small independent shops, traditional pubs, and Berlin's local Kiez life. Once a year, the entire Bölschestraße is closed for the Bölschestraßenfest: a three-day neighborhood festival with an art market, stages, amusement rides, and gastronomy, activating the entire promenade.
The 2026 edition runs from Friday, September 18th, through Sunday, September 20th. Opening hours are Fridays 2:00 PM–10:00 PM, Saturdays 12:00 PM–10:00 PM, and Sundays 12:00 PM–8:00 PM. Free admission. Organized by Jüttner Entertainment in cooperation with Hauptstadtkultur Berlin.
The festival combines several elements: craft stalls along the street display fashion, jewelry, ceramics, woodwork, and Berlin art prints; street food trucks and amusement rides offer international and classic Volksfest (traditional folk festival) food; cafés and restaurants along Bölschestraße complement with outdoor seating. Several small stages feature live music: cover bands, Schlager (popular German music), Berlin pop, and folk music alternate — the program is deliberately broad, adapted to the local demographic.
Friedrichshagen is one of the most attractive districts in Treptow-Köpenick — located directly on the Großer Müggelsee (Great Müggel Lake), with a historic center, a lido, and a significant recreational function for Berliners and Brandenburgers. For three days, the Bölschestraßenfest turns the district's center into a meeting point; many visitors combine the festival with a walk by the Müggelsee or a boat trip on the lake.
Accessible in 25 minutes from the main station via S-Bahn line S3 (final stop Friedrichshagen), then a 5-minute walk to Bölschestraße. Tram lines 60 or 61 also stop nearby. Within the state of Berlin, in the Treptow-Köpenick district, the festival is one of the largest neighborhood weekends in East Berlin and is part of the Hauptstadtkultur series, which plays in several Berlin districts annually.
The Bölschestraßenfest 2026 continues its established three-day format. Bölschestraße will be closed to car traffic for the entire duration of the festival; the promenade transforms into a festival area with an art market, food trucks, amusement rides, and stage performances. Cafés and restaurants along the street supplement the offerings with their outdoor seating. Detailed lineup and stage times will be published in the weeks leading up to the event on hauptstadtkultur.berlin/bolschefest.
