Winter edition of the Stoner and Psychedelic festival in the Bavarian Forest
While the large Blackdoor Music Fest attracts open-air lovers of heavy, psychedelic sounds to Thyrnau every summer, there has been a much more intimate indoor edition in winter for several years: the Blackdoor Reflections. In 2026, the edition will take place on January 9th and 10th at the König-Max-Höhe in Thyrnau (Kellberg district) and will bring two days of concentrated heavy sound across two stages.
The 2026 lineup is exceptionally dense: Black Rainbows (Rome) as an Italian stoner institution, Nightstalker (Athens) as a Greek legend, Dÿse as a German heavy duo, Godsleep, Dirty Sound Magnet from Switzerland, Temple Fang (NL), Acid Mammoth, Skraeckoedlan (SE), Kant, Ultima Radio, Savanah (Graz, AT), Ozymandias, Lazer, and Mad Mother. Genres: Stoner Rock, Heavy Psych, Doom, Desert Rock, Sludge.
In contrast to the summer main edition, Blackdoor Reflections takes place entirely indoors. Two stages ensure seamless program changes, and the concept is complemented by conceptual art elements and a curated atmosphere. "Familiar faces, new setting, a touch of conceptual art" – this is how the organizers themselves describe the Reflections edition.
Thyrnau is located about 12 km northeast of Passau in the Passau district (Lower Bavaria), in the western foothills of the Bavarian Forest. The Kellberg district is a climatic health resort, and its location between the Danube and the Czech border makes it an attractive destination for guests from Austria and the Czech Republic. With the Blackdoor Festival, Thyrnau has established itself in the heavy music scene as a destination that combines an idyllic location with hard sounds.
The Reflections edition is conceived as a curated winter counterpart to the large summer Blackdoor Music Fest. Two days, two stages, a dense lineup – with a focus on European bands from the Stoner/Psych/Doom scene.
The organizers are the Blackdoor Festival team around Thyrnau. The indoor venue (König-Max-Höhe) ensures good acoustics, and the winter atmosphere creates a very different vibe than the open-air event. Conceptual art elements complement the musical program.
