Shooting Club as the Heart of the Community
The Birkenwald Rehberg shooting club is one of the central clubs in the municipality of Grainet – with its own clubhouse at Graineter Strasse 4, modern electronic shooting facilities, an archery section, and a wide-ranging program from children's and youth shooting to king's and citizen's shooting. The annual Birkenwaldfest is the club's social flagship, a meeting point for the residents of Rehberg, Grainet, and the surrounding communities of the Bavarian Forest.
Birkenwald Festival Grounds as the Venue
The venue is the Birkenwald festival grounds in the Rehberg district of Grainet, directly at the shooting club's clubhouse. A festival tent, a stage for bands, catering stands run by the clubs, and a forecourt for socializing transform the festival grounds into the social center of the village for three days. The idyllic location in the Birkenwald – a birch grove on the edge of the Bavarian Forest – gives the festival its typical Lower Bavarian character.
Classic Club Festival Schedule
The festival follows the classic three-day schedule of Bavarian club festivals: Kick-off on Friday evening with a beer tapping or a concert, festival operations on Saturday with a band performance late into the night, festival Sunday with a morning pint (Frühschoppen), a festival service (depending on the program), and winding down in the afternoon. In previous years, bands like SHINE have played on the stage. The catering is handled by the shooting club together with friendly clubs.
In the Natural Landscape of the Bavarian Forest
Grainet is located in the southeastern Bavarian Forest, on the edge of the National Park and not far from the Czech border (Freyung-Grafenau district, 09272). The region is a paradise for hiking and nature lovers, with the Dreisesselberg mountain as a high point to the north and the Danube plain to the south. The Birkenwaldfest combines this rural natural character with the conviviality typical of Lower Bavarian clubs.

Birkenwaldfest 2026 — Three Festival Days in the Bavarian Forest
From Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7, 2026, celebrations will take place in Rehberg, a district of the municipality of Grainet. The Birkenwaldfest of the Birkenwald Rehberg shooting club invites you to three days of festival activities in the tent at the Birkenwald festival grounds.
The day before – Thursday, June 4, 2026 – the Grainet brass band will kick off the festival week with the event format »Hendl, Bier & Blemuse«.

Prices Birkenwaldfest 2026
Free admission to the festival grounds. Catering by the shooting club and friendly clubs in the festival tent at usual Bavarian Volksfest prices (liter of beer, roast chicken, bratwurst, schnitzel, soft drinks). For some band performances, a small admission fee may be charged depending on the provider – information available in advance on the club's website.

Car: A3 exit Aicha vorm Wald, then B85 / B12 to Grainet. Signs for Rehberg / Birkenwald. Parking available at the festival grounds.
Train: Freyung or Waldkirchen station, then bus.
