Shooting Club as the Heart of the Community

The Birkenwald Rehberg shooting club is one of the central clubs in the municipality of Grainet – with its own clubhouse at Graineter Strasse 4, modern electronic shooting facilities, an archery section, and a wide-ranging program from children's and youth shooting to king's and citizen's shooting. The annual Birkenwaldfest is the club's social flagship, a meeting point for the residents of Rehberg, Grainet, and the surrounding communities of the Bavarian Forest.

Birkenwald Festival Grounds as the Venue

The venue is the Birkenwald festival grounds in the Rehberg district of Grainet, directly at the shooting club's clubhouse. A festival tent, a stage for bands, catering stands run by the clubs, and a forecourt for socializing transform the festival grounds into the social center of the village for three days. The idyllic location in the Birkenwald – a birch grove on the edge of the Bavarian Forest – gives the festival its typical Lower Bavarian character.

Classic Club Festival Schedule

The festival follows the classic three-day schedule of Bavarian club festivals: Kick-off on Friday evening with a beer tapping or a concert, festival operations on Saturday with a band performance late into the night, festival Sunday with a morning pint (Frühschoppen), a festival service (depending on the program), and winding down in the afternoon. In previous years, bands like SHINE have played on the stage. The catering is handled by the shooting club together with friendly clubs.

In the Natural Landscape of the Bavarian Forest

Grainet is located in the southeastern Bavarian Forest, on the edge of the National Park and not far from the Czech border (Freyung-Grafenau district, 09272). The region is a paradise for hiking and nature lovers, with the Dreisesselberg mountain as a high point to the north and the Danube plain to the south. The Birkenwaldfest combines this rural natural character with the conviviality typical of Lower Bavarian clubs.
