A Journey Through the World of Beer – Right in Bremen
The Bierfest Bremen is part of Germany's largest beer festival tour and stops at Hillmannplatz every year, the square directly by Bremen's main train station. Over a hundred types of beer from regional and international breweries invite you to sample them — from the local Union Brauerei Bremen and North German classics like Astra to international names like Pilsner Urquell, Guinness, and BrewDog. You can try everything from light Pilsners to robust Bock beers and modern craft varieties, all without having to travel far.
The festival is more than just a beer tasting: First-class live music, a varied supporting program, and diverse food offerings make it a convivial festival of enjoyment. Designed to be family-friendly and accessible with free admission, it attracts beer lovers, the curious, and party-goers from all over the Bremen region equally — an uncomplicated meeting point right in the city center.
Hanseatic Brewing Culture Meets International Flavors
Bremen boasts a brewing tradition spanning almost a thousand years: The city was already mentioned as a brewing location in the 11th century, and during the Hanseatic period between the 13th and 17th centuries, there were up to 250 small breweries — Bremen beer was highly valued throughout Northern Europe. This history lives on today: The Kaiserbrauerei Beck was founded in 1873 and made the Beck's brand world-famous, while the Union Brauerei, founded in 1907 by innkeepers, reopened in 2015 after a long hiatus. The Bierfest places this regional history in an international context, making it possible to compare tastes between Hanseatic and global beers in a confined space.
Central and Convenient
The location on Hillmannplatz in the Bahnhofsvorstadt, just a few steps from the main train station, makes the Bierfest particularly easy to reach — even for guests from the surrounding Bremen area. Those looking for a relaxed evening in the Hanseatic city without a long journey and without tickets will find a convivial summer meeting point here, where Hanseatic coziness meets international beer diversity.
