Three Days of Dance Stages in Kropp's Geestland

In the middle of the rural Geest landscape of the Schleswig-Flensburg district, in the village of Kropp with 6,700 inhabitants, Schleswig-Holstein's most unusual festival has been taking place for several years: the Between the Seas Festival – Schleswig-Holstein's largest festival for electronic dance music. The Geestland event grounds by the swimming pool are transformed into a huge open-air dance stage with four stages and 56 confirmed acts.

Four Stages, One Sound Spectrum

What distinguishes Between the Seas from a typical EDM festival is its broad stylistic lineup across four stages:

• Main Stage – the big EDM, Hands-Up, and Schlager crossover acts like Harris & Ford
• Harder Stage – Hardstyle and harder electronic genres
• Techno Stage – curated techno DJs and regular tech sets
• Classic Stage – classics of electronic dance music from past decades

This division ensures that all genres of electronic dance music are represented and that no divisions divide the festival.

Camping, Local Tickets, and Families

The festival is designed as a camping festival: arrival already on Wednesday, camping with tents (max. 9 sqm), caravans, and motorhomes allowed. Charcoal grills are permitted, as are small power generators up to 2.5 kW. Confetti incurs a €2,000 fine. Children under 12 have free entry when accompanied by paying parents, teenagers 12-16 only with a guardian, from 16 alone until midnight. A special feature: The municipality of Kropp offers a local ticket – a model for local acceptance.

Sister Event in Winter

Between the Seas has an indoor sister event: the Winter Festival in the Holstenhallen Neumünster. This allows the organizers to cover the Schleswig-Holstein EDM scene all year round.

Kropp, the Schleswig-Flensburg District, and the A7

Kropp is located directly on the A7, the main traffic artery between Hamburg and Flensburg, making it easily accessible for festival-goers from all over Northern Germany. By train, you travel to Schleswig or Owschlag and then continue by bus/shuttle. The region around Kropp – the Treene valley, the Hüttener Berge Nature Park, the historic Viking sites of Haithabu – is ideal for an extended stay.
