Advent Season in the Municipality of Prohn

The Weihnachtsmarkt Prohn is the Christmas meeting point of the municipality of Prohn, which belongs to the Amt Altenpleen in the Vorpommern-Rügen district and is located about five kilometers north of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund. It is a village Christmas market in a manageable, family-friendly format – not a large tourist market, but a festival of the community for the community.

At the market, visitors can expect stalls with arts and crafts, mulled wine, and Christmas offerings, as well as an Advent supporting program. The atmosphere is characterized by village conviviality: neighbors, families, and clubs come together to celebrate the Advent season together.

Part of a Rich Prohn Advent

The Christmas market is just one component of Prohn's dense Advent and Christmas program. Starting December 1st, the Living Advent Calendar runs, where a window or door in the village is opened daily; shortly before the market date, the Christmas concert takes place in the brick Gothic village church. Together, these events make the Prohn Advent a lively season.

Prohn and the Prohner Wiek

The municipality of Prohn borders the Prohner Wiek to the north, a bay of the Strelasund that separates the village from the islands of Rügen and Hiddensee. With a sports club, fire department, and choir, the town has active club life – and the Christmas market is the communal conclusion of the Prohn event year.
