Family and town festival with over 40 clubs in Bad Wildungen's Old Town
The Bad Wildungen Altstadtsommer is more than a town festival – it is a conscious statement for diversity, safety, and tolerance. The event is organized by the Bad Wildungen Prevention Council together with Stadtmarketing, the VHS cultural association, the Historical Town Association, and the City Library. Over 40 participating clubs and organizations make the Altstadtsommer a vibrant festival mile with a clear social profile.
A special feature of Bad Wildungen: At the police bicycle coding event, citizens can have their bikes marked free of charge with a number that allows identification in case of theft. This practical safety service has been a cornerstone of the Altstadtsommer for years.
For children up to 14 years old, there is a mini-olympics with approx. 29 stations – skill games, sports, small competitions. The stations are spread across the festival mile, and children collect stamps and win prizes.
The stages offer a variety of programs:
At 6 PM, a free Old Town city tour begins – an opportunity to get to know the historic old town with its half-timbered houses and the city church better. The format also fits the festival's profile: education, culture, the city as a living space.
For the youngest visitors: Bouncy castle, craft stations, games. For adults: Club catering, club stands with information about their work in Bad Wildungen.
Bad Wildungen has been a spa town since the 19th century in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district. With around 17,000 inhabitants, it is small, but Stadtmarketing has been developing a dense festival calendar program for years – from Folk im Park to the Altstadtsommer to the International Folk Festival.
Organizers: Bad Wildungen Prevention Council, Stadtmarketing, VHS Cultural Association, Historical Town Association, City Library.
Free admission. All program items, including the mini-olympics and city tour, are free. Food and drinks available at club stands.
