Tip
Before the opening concert, a walk through the old town of Alt-Wildungen is worthwhile; after the Folk Night, Bad Wildungen's spa park is an experience in itself on a mild summer night.
30 Years of Folk in the Wandelhalle
Folk im Park in Bad Wildungen is one of the oldest and finest folk festivals in Hesse. In 2026, it celebrates its 30th edition – an anniversary that the Tourist Information is placing under the motto "Summer. Sound. Encounter“. The concept has remained consistent over the years: an opening concert in the acoustically excellent Philipp Nicolai Church in Alt-Wildungen, followed by the Long Folk Night in the historic Wandelhalle with three international acts in a row.
Where Folk Meets World Music
Folk im Park is not a pure folk music event in the narrow sense – the festival has been open to world music, acoustic jazz, Scandinavian, and Celtic sounds from the very beginning. Over the years, musicians from Scandinavia, the British Isles, the Balkans, Latin America, and Australia have performed here. The audience is equally open – folk lovers, world music fans, spa guests, and day visitors from the Kassel region.
Spa Park with an Acoustic Plus Point
The Wandelhalle is a bright, column-adorned building in the Bad Wildungen spa park, built during the heyday of spa tradition. With its high ceiling and stone surfaces, it acts like a giant resonance body – ideal for acoustic music. The Philipp Nicolai Church in Alt-Wildungen, where the opening concert takes place, is a late Gothic hall church with similarly special acoustics – perfect for the folk voice of opening acts like Lady Maisery in 2026.
Small, Fine, Well-Organized
Folk im Park is intentionally not large: the Wandelhalle accommodates a few hundred visitors, and the Long Folk Night is usually sold out weeks in advance. Those who want to attend should book tickets promptly from the Bad Wildungen Tourist Information or online via Reservix. The weekend ticket (€38) is significantly cheaper than the sum of individual tickets.
