The brine spa community of Bad Sassendorf in the Westphalian district of Soest is famous for its historic spa park with old trees, water features, and graduation towers. In Advent, this very park becomes the setting for an atmospheric Christmas market — wooden huts, fairy lights, and the illumination of the spa park trees create an almost magical atmosphere, which pleasantly stands out from the large city center markets in the region.

Six Weeks, Always Thu–Sun

The market opens its doors on Thursday, November 12, 2026, and remains open until Sunday, December 20, 2026 — which is significantly longer than most neighborhood markets. Market days are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with one exception: the market will be closed on November 22 (Totensonntag/Sunday of the Dead).

Special Feature: Christmas Market for Dogs

On the weekend of December 12–13, 2026, the Christmas market for dogs will take place as part of the main market — a unique format in the region. There will be stalls with high-quality dog food, treats, toys, dog clothing, and accessories, as well as donation and information stands from local animal shelters and animal welfare organizations. Guided dog walks through the festively lit spa park are also part of the program.
