Restart of a Tauberfranken Volksfest
The Bad Mergentheim Volksfest is one of the oldest folk festivals in the Main-Tauber district — and in 2026, it faces a fundamental reorientation. After years of discussions about its profile, operator, and date, the city of Bad Mergentheim has found a new organizer: P+L Event / Festzelte Papert will take over the festival tent and the entire program. At the same time, the date will be moved forward from the traditional last weekend of July to July 10th to 13th, 2026, to avoid overlaps with other summer dates in Tauberfranken.
New Attractions 2026
The 2026 Volksfest focuses on three visible innovations: a Ferris wheel in the amusement park, which will shape the skyline of the festival week; an enlarged festival tent with an adjoining beer garden for a relaxed summer program; and the Taubertal-Schänke — a smaller, regionally focused alternative to the large festival tent, offering wines, regional specialties, and a Tauberfranken atmosphere, intended for guests who find the classic beer tent too large or too loud.
Four Themed Days
The four-day program is divided into themed days: children's program with reduced prices for rides, Mallorca evening with Schlager and party music in the festival tent, Ladies Night, and Country Breakfast as a finale on Sunday. Live bands and DJs will fill the evenings, and the amusement park will be open daily from afternoon until night.
Anniversary Year 2026 — 200 Years of Healing Springs / 100 Years of 'Bad' Title
2026 is a double anniversary year for Bad Mergentheim: 200 years since the rediscovery of the healing springs (1826) and 100 years since the awarding of the 'Bad' title (1926). The Volksfest is part of a year-long festival campaign by the city and is considered one of the highlights of the 2026 summer campaign. Bad Mergentheim, with almost 25,000 inhabitants, is the main town of the Main-Tauber district and one of the oldest health resorts in Southern Germany — its location on the Romantic Road, Mergentheim Castle, and the Deutschmeister tradition are included.

2026 Program — Restart with Three Clear Accents
The 2026 edition marks a break from the previous format. Three visible innovations define the profile: the Ferris wheel as the central attraction of the amusement park, the enlarged festival tent with an adjoining beer garden, and the Taubertal-Schänke as a regional alternative tent. Four themed days structure the weekend: Thursday/Friday children's program and Mallorca evening, Saturday Ladies Night, Sunday Country Breakfast and festival finale.
The Volksfest is part of the spa town's double anniversary program — 200 years since the rediscovery of the healing springs (1826), 100 years since the awarding of the 'Bad' title (1926) — and is considered one of the most popular events of the 2026 Bad Mergentheim season.

Getting There
Bad Mergentheim is accessible via the A 81 motorway (exit Tauberbischofsheim) and the B 290 federal road. By train, take the Tauberbahn (Crailsheim–Würzburg) directly to Bad Mergentheim. Parking is available at the festival grounds and in the multi-storey car parks in the town center.
Opening Hours
Friday, July 10, 2026, to Monday, July 13, 2026. The rides typically operate from the afternoon until 11:00 PM (later on weekends), and the festival tent with evening entertainment until midnight.
