Erlenbach – A Lauter District with its Own Karneval Scene

Erlenbach is one of the districts that has been incorporated into Kaiserslautern in recent decades and still maintains its own vibrant club life with a high degree of independence. The Karneval-Gesellschaft Narrensänger Erlenbach is one of the established players in the Lauter Karneval scene and hosts its own Prunksitzung annually. In 2026, this will take place on Saturday, January 31, in the Theo-Barth-Halle.

The Theo-Barth-Halle as a Venue

The Theo-Barth-Halle is the central venue for the Erlenbach district. Named after a local politician, it has become the traditional place for club celebrations, concerts, weddings, and – as on this January 31st – for the Narrensänger's Prunksitzung over the decades. The hall offers a manageable size, which lends the Karneval atmosphere a particularly dense, almost familiar feel.

Program of a Prunksitzung

The program follows the proven structure of a Palatinate Prunksitzung. Dance troupes (Gardens) from the Narrensänger and friendly clubs open the proceedings, speakers (Bütt) deliver witty remarks on local, regional, and national politics, musical show acts and Karneval classics are woven in. City Princess Jenny I., the reigning Lauter Princess of the 2025/2026 season, is expected as a guest. A Karneval band provides for swaying (Schunkelpartien) and communal singing.

A Date for Regulars

The session thrives on its regular audience and the club's close connection to the district. Tables are traditionally reserved early, families and groups of friends have been attending the session in the same constellation for years, some Karnevalists in costumes, others in festive Karneval attire. The Lauter sessions, away from the large Fruchthalle galas, have a special charm: here, the district's Karneval community celebrates without the distance of larger event formats.
