Twelve concerts per week in Europe's largest spa town
The Bad Füssing Spa Orchestra has been an integral part of the Lower Bavarian spa town of Bad Füssing in the Passau district (Bavaria) for decades. The first concert took place on May 1, 1967; since then, the orchestra has been "as much a fixture of Bad Füssing as the thermal springs." Bad Füssing is one of the most visited health resorts in Europe, and the spa concerts shape the daily scene in the Kurpark and Kurhaus.
The ensemble performs around twelve concerts per week year-round: on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and weekends in the mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the afternoons from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and on Wednesday and Sunday evenings from 7:30 p.m. onwards. On Wednesdays, there are request concerts where the audience selects the pieces.
Fourteen musicians from England, Poland, Romania, Hungary, and Ukraine make up the orchestra. Since 2004, conductor Anna Fuhrländer has led the ensemble – she was the first woman at the helm of the spa orchestra and shapes it with artistic expertise and Hungarian temperament.
The program includes compositions from opera, operetta, and classical music, including works by Mozart and Haydn, as well as more modern melodies by George Gershwin and from musicals. The range extends from festive concerts to light entertainment programs in the Kurpark.
The highlight of the year is the Bad Füssing Cultural Festival, whose closing concert is performed by the spa orchestra under Anna Fuhrländer – most recently together with the Youth World Music Orchestra on the theme of "World of Music.".
In 2026, the Bad Füssing Spa Orchestra, led by Anna Fuhrländer, will continue to shape daily life in the Lower Bavarian spa town: around twelve concerts per week, in the mornings and afternoons in the Kurpark, and in the evenings on Wednesdays and Sundays in the Kurhaus. On Wednesdays, guests can request pieces.
The annual highlight is the Bad Füssing Cultural Festival with a gala concert by the spa orchestra.
Bad Füssing is located in the Passau district near the Austrian border. Travel by car via the A3 (Pocking exit) or the B12; the nearest train station is Pocking/Passau with bus connections. Concert venues are the Kurhaus and the Kurpark.
With a valid Bad Füssing Card, admission to the spa concerts is significantly discounted. Special concerts (e.g., Cultural Festival) have separate prices. Live recordings are available as CDs from the spa administration.
Morning and afternoon concerts in the Kurpark are ideal to combine with a visit to the thermal baths.
