A Festival by Clubs for the Whole Region
The Bachgaufest is the big Heimat- und Stadtfest (local and town festival) of the market town Großostheim in the district of Aschaffenburg (Bavaria, Bavarian Untermain region), held every two years. Around the historic Großostheim market square, a lively festival mile with a town festival character is created for three days, organized by and with the local clubs and groups.
Program and Stages
The Bachgaufest offers a cross-generational program of music, enjoyment, and entertainment:
- Live performances on several stages (including the Schlappeseppel stage and the music school stage)
- Around 14 food and drink stands run by clubs
- A dedicated wine village
- Open mic stage on the festival Sunday
- A newly designed children's and youth area in the inner courtyard of the Nötigsgut, organized by the municipal youth services
Schedule
The festival traditionally spans a long weekend: opening on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday with continuous programming. Music plays until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and the festival concludes on Sunday evening.

The Bachgaufest is well-known throughout the district of Aschaffenburg and is one of the identity-forming events of the Bachgau region. It combines club life, local gastronomy, and traditions into a festival that makes the community visible to the outside world.
Bachgaufest — edition 2026
The Bachgaufest 2026 will be celebrated from Friday, July 17, to Sunday, July 19, 2026. The festival opens on Friday from 5:00 PM, continues on Saturday from 2:00 PM, and on Sunday from 10:00 AM; music plays until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and until late evening on Sundays. On the stages (including the Schlappeseppel stage, the music school stage), clubs and groups perform, complemented by a wine village, around 14 food and drink stands, and an open mic stage on Sunday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A new feature is a dedicated children's and youth area in the inner courtyard of the Nötigsgut.

Getting There
Großostheim is conveniently located between Aschaffenburg and Darmstadt. By car via the A3 (Aschaffenburg-West exit) or the B469. Bus lines connect Großostheim with Aschaffenburg. The festival grounds around the market square are located within the town.
Admission
Entry to the festival grounds is free; food and drinks at the club stands are subject to charge.
