Non-commercial music and culture festival in Nilkheimer Park – 50th anniversary in 2026
In 2026, KOMMZ looks back on five decades of festival history – founded in 1975, it will be celebrated for the 50th time in 2026. It is a non-profit organized weekend, supported by the Freundeskreis für Kultur e.V. The organizers emphasize their self-understanding: "We are not a company, not an agency, and not a profit-oriented organizing team." The entire festival is run by volunteers.
The venue is the Nilkheimer Park in the Nilkheim district of Aschaffenburg – a green, spacious setting that gives the festival its relaxed, family-friendly character. Instead of a large commercial event, visitors can expect a weekend with music, activities, workshops, and a children's program in a special atmosphere.
The 50th KOMMZ will be celebrated in a special way: a chronicle of the festival's history will be published, the city of Aschaffenburg is dedicating an exhibition ("Kosmos Kommz" in the City Archive) to KOMMZ, and will award the Culture Prize 2026 to the KOMMZ group. With this, the city honors decades of voluntary commitment.
The program includes new acts and familiar corners, workshops, activities, and a children's program – a weekend that consciously aims to be more than just a concert: a participatory cultural festival. Camping is possible, and the park becomes a temporary festival village.
Aschaffenburg is located on the Bavarian Lower Main, on the border with Hesse, and is considered the "Bavarian Nice" with its Johannisburg Castle and parks. KOMMZ is a firm cultural fixture in the city and attracts an audience from the entire Rhine-Main region and Lower Franconia.
In 2026, KOMMZ celebrates its 50th anniversary: from August 7 to 9 in Nilkheimer Park. Confirmed via the official website kommz.de, kommz.de/tickets, and bandsintown.com (KOMMZ 2026). A non-profit, entirely volunteer-run festival weekend.
