Volksfest with Tradition in the Arberland
The St.-Benno-Volksfest Bodenmais, known locally as Bennofest, is the traditional Volksfest (public festival) of the health resort Bodenmais in the Regen district of the Bavarian Forest, state of Bavaria. It takes place every year in June at the old sports field on Jahnstraße and is organized by TSV 1905 Bodenmais. The Bennofest is part of the Volksfest season in the Arberland.
Religious Origins
The name refers to Saint Benno: On St. Benno's Day, June 16, 1705, a replica of the Black Madonna of Loreto was transferred from Italy to Bodenmais. The traditional Volksfest with its marquee and rides was introduced in the 1950s by the then-mayor Leopold Fleischmann and has since combined religious roots with exuberant festival culture.

The 75th edition of the St.-Benno-Volksfest Bodenmais will take place from June 18 to 22, 2026, at the old sports field on Jahnstraße. For five days, the festival, organized by TSV 1905 Bodenmais, will offer a cozy Volksfest atmosphere: a marquee with music and festivities, an amusement park with rides, dodgems, and a children's carousel, lottery stalls, as well as candy floss and pizza stands. Traditional fried fish and goal wall shooting with TSV footballers are also part of the program.
