Junior World Championship in Biathlon at Großer Arbersee in the Bavarian Forest
The ARBER Hohenzollern Biathlon Stadium at Großer Arbersee near Bayerisch Eisenstein in the Regen district is one of Germany's most traditional biathlon arenas. At an altitude of around 950 meters in the heart of the Bavarian Forest, the stadium hosted the IBU Junior World Championships – the world championship for the best junior biathletes.
Around 800 athletes from approximately 40 countries competed in the youth (U19) and junior (U21) categories. The program included individual races, sprints, mass start races, relays, and mixed relays for women and men. A special feature of this edition was the race day structure, organized by gender rather than age groups.
The Arber Stadium regularly hosts international biathlon competitions, including IBU Cup races. With events like the Junior World Championships, the Bavarian Forest region is establishing itself as a key player on the international winter sports calendar, offering spectators top-level sport against an alpine backdrop.
