»The Temperament of Colours« is a summer exhibition in the fishing village of Mönkebude on the Stettiner Haff. Location and Atmosphere
Mönkebude is located directly on the southern shore of the Stettiner Haff, in the Amt am Stettiner Haff (Vorpommern-Greifswald district, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). The village was first mentioned in 1244 and dates back to a Slavic settlement called Doblowitz; the current name refers to the "Mönchsbude" (monk's hut) of the monks from the Grobe monastery on Usedom. Today, the harbour, beach, and fishing tradition characterise the place — an atmospheric setting for a summer exhibition.
Context
Mönkebude sees itself as a small but ambitious cultural village on the Haff: In addition to the local history museum Fischerstube (since 1996), concerts, readings, and exhibitions are regularly held in the summer. »The Temperament of Colours« is part of these summer programmes and is aimed at holiday guests in the Haff region as well as day-trippers from Ueckermünde, Eggesin, and the surrounding areas of Vorpommern.

Those travelling to the Baltic Sea or the Stettiner Haff during Whitsun week can easily combine a visit to the exhibition with a summer day in Mönkebude: the beach promenade, a walk around the Haff, the small local history museum Fischerstube, and a fish restaurant at the harbour are just a few steps away.
