Sommerfest Wißgoldingen — edition 2026
Pentecost Sunday 2026 at the Schwarzhorn
On Pentecost Sunday, May 24, 2026, from 10 AM to 7 PM, the Music Association Harmonie Wißgoldingen invites you to the traditional summer festival at the foot of the Schwarzhorn. The festival grounds in the Wißgoldingen district of Waldstetten will transform into an open-air festival meadow — brass music from the association will provide the musical backdrop, and catering stands will offer visitors Swabian specialties.
Bratwurst, Maultaschen, Schupfnudeln, cake buffet in the afternoon, beer, and wine — classic Swabian Pentecost festival catering. Early birds can enjoy the morning finale with the association's traditional Frühschoppen program; in the afternoon, the concert will be more relaxed with polkas, waltzes, and occasional popular pieces. Those who wish can combine the festival with a stroll or a short hike up the nearby Schwarzhorn (729 m) or Stuifen (757 m).

Pentecost at the Schwarzhorn
On Pentecost Sunday, May 24, 2026, the Music Association Harmonie Wißgoldingen invites you to the traditional summer festival. From 10 AM to 7 PM, the festival grounds at the foot of the Schwarzhorn — one of the characteristic elevations of the Swabian Jura foothills — will transform into an open-air festival meadow. Brass music from the association, catering with Swabian specialties, and a relaxed Pentecost Sunday atmosphere will characterize the day.
The Music Association Harmonie Wißgoldingen
For decades, the Music Association Harmonie Wißgoldingen has been a driving force in the cultural life of the Wißgoldingen district of Waldstetten. With its large orchestra, youth band, and student training, the association preserves the Swabian brass music tradition and shapes the social life in the small village. The Pentecost summer festival is the association's most important self-organized event of the year — and a crucial source of income for its activities.
Wißgoldingen — Village at the Stuifen
Wißgoldingen is a district of the municipality of Waldstetten in the Ostalb district. The village lies at the foot of the Schwarzhorn (729 m above sea level) and within sight of the Stuifen (757 m), two prominent elevations of the Swabian Jura foothills. Its location between Schwäbisch Gmünd (8 km north) and the High Jura shapes its character — rural, surrounded by scattered fruit orchards and forests, with an active club scene and a population of around 1,200. Visitors to the summer festival can ideally combine it with a hike up the Schwarzhorn or the Stuifen, both reachable from the festival grounds in 30 to 60 minutes.
Pentecost as a Festival Date
The choice of Pentecost Sunday as the festival date is no coincidence. In Southern Germany, which is predominantly Catholic, Pentecost is one of the most important religious holidays of the year and also marks the beginning of the season for open-air events. Many Swabian villages hold their summer festivals on Pentecost — the tradition dates back to the connection between the religious holiday and the subsequent community experience.
Waldstetten — Municipality with Three Districts
Waldstetten, a municipality in the Ostalb district with around 7,200 inhabitants, consists of three districts: Waldstetten (main town), Wißgoldingen, and Weilerstoffel. The municipality is known primarily for its scenic location on the Albtrauf (Swabian Jura escarpment), its active club scene, and the Hornberg-Stuifen nature reserve. The three districts each maintain their own club life — the Music Association Harmonie is the flagship of Wißgoldingen.
