"Aufsteigen" is the annual cycling fair and leisure mile of the town of Herzogenaurach in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district. On Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the city centre will transform into an open exhibition mile: over 15 exhibitors will present bicycles, e-bikes, accessories, and services. In parallel, the leisure mile will showcase tourism highlights from the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. Kick-off for the STADTRADELN initiative May 9–29, 2026.

The 12th "Aufsteigen" cycling fair will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Herzogenaurach's city centre. Over 15 exhibitors featuring bicycles, e-bikes, and accessories, a leisure mile with tourism providers from the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, a group ride to the market square at 12 p.m., and the kick-off for the STADTRADELN campaign from May 9–29, 2026.

The 2026 edition of the cycling fair continues the tradition maintained for over ten years: concentrated into one morning, with a dense offering of bicycle brands, local service providers, and extensive tourism information from Region 5 (Nuremberg Metropolitan Region).

The highlight is the ceremonial group ride at 12:00 p.m., where STADTRADELN teams from various city districts ride together to the market square—the official start signal for the three-week climate protection campaign.

Getting There

Herzogenaurach is located in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district, approx. 22 km northwest of Nuremberg. By car, take the A3 (Würzburg–Nuremberg) or the A73, exit Erlangen-West. Public transport: Bus 201/202 from Erlangen.

"Aufsteigen" is an annual cycling fair and leisure mile that Herzogenaurach hosts every May in its city centre. 2026 marks the 12th edition—a tradition that has heralded the cycling spring in Herzogenaurach since the early 2010s. The event combines a compact cycling fair with a tourism mile for the Nuremberg region and broad family entertainment.

Cycling Fair with Over 15 Exhibitors

The exhibition stands in the city centre will showcase bicycles, e-bikes, accessories, and service offers. These include major brands (Herzogenaurach is home to divisions of Schaeffler/Continental and is in the sphere of the Adidas/Puma sports industry) as well as local bike shops and service providers. The town's Radt'sch Mobil—a mobile bicycle service—will also be present.

The Leisure Mile

Alongside the cycling fair, the Leisure Mile will present tourism highlights from the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. Tourist offices from across the region will introduce excursion destinations, outdoor locations, cycling routes, and cultural offerings—from the Franconian Wine Country to the Hersbruck Switzerland and Franconian Switzerland. It's an open information exchange for day trips by bike.

STADTRADELN Kick-off

The cycling fair marks the start of the annual climate protection campaign STADTRADELN (Cycle for Climate), which runs in Herzogenaurach from May 9 to 29, 2026. Teams compete to collect as many cycling kilometres as possible for climate protection. A ceremonial group ride will reach the market square at 12:00 p.m., followed by a welcome address from the town's leadership.

Weekly Market in Parallel

The traditional weekly market will run concurrently with the cycling fair, offering fresh regional food and specialities. Food trucks and snack stands will provide culinary options throughout the morning.
