Akkordeonale — the international accordion tour since 2009
The Akkordeonale is an international concert tour that has been traveling through Germany every spring since 2009. The artistic director is the Dutch accordionist Servais Haanen, who annually brings together five accordionists from different countries and with diverse styles. The program connects musical cultures and styles from around the world — from South Brazilian Gaucho music and Greek Rembetiko to Balkan jazz, classical interpretations, and French accordion artistry.
Bad Bellingen — Stop on the 2026 Tour
The 2026 tour begins on April 8 in Karlsruhe and then travels through numerous German cities. One stop is Bad Bellingen in the Markgräflerland: On Friday, May 1, 2026, at 7 PM, the Akkordeonale 2026 will perform at the Kurhaus Bad Bellingen. Bad Bellingen — a state-recognized spa town in the southernmost part of Baden-Württemberg, in the Markgräflerland between Müllheim and Lörrach — has been a regular stop on the tour for years.
The 2026 Artist Ensemble
The 2026 edition brings together seven international musicians. Five of them play the accordion, and two are accompanying musicians on other instruments:
- Adriana de Los Santos (Brazil) — South Brazilian Gaucho music with its typical rhythms and melodic lines
- Maurizio Minardi (Italy) — Italian minimalist music with classical and improvisational touches
- Zabou Guérin (France) — French accordion virtuosity in the tradition of Parisian Musette
- Dimos Vougioukas (Greece) — Greek Rembetiko and Mediterranean folk music
- Servais Haanen (Netherlands) — Dutch sound aesthetics and musical direction of the festival
- Diogo Picão (Portugal) — Saxophone as a melodic counterpart to the accordion
- Johanna Stein (Germany) — Cello as a bass-heavy rhythm and sound carrier
What Makes Akkordeonale Special
The concept of Akkordeonale is extraordinary: Instead of a collection of solo performances, the musicians merge into a common ensemble. Each piece features a different "main theme" — one of the national idioms — but all six musicians play along. This creates a musical journey where South American, Mediterranean, Balkan, and Western European sound traditions interlock. Servais Haanen, the festival's creator, describes it as "the language of the accordion — seven passes, one common music.".
