Arts and Crafts Market for the 1st Advent in Bremen-Aumund
When the Schützenhalle of the Vegesacker Schützenverein on Hermann-Löns-Straße shines in festive light on the first Advent weekend, it transforms into a pre-Christmas wonderland. Decorated pavilions line up, showcasing the work of around 40 to 47 exhibitors — including jewelry, embroidered textiles, paper stars, wire decorations, beeswax paintings, and sustainable household goods.
A special feature of the Adventszauber is the so-called "Kuchenpflicht" (cake obligation): exhibitors bring homemade cakes or contribute financially, from which the club bakes additional cakes. The tradition originated because many guests came specifically for coffee and cake before browsing the market. Today, the cake buffet is an integral part of the event's character.
The Adventszauber is supported by a team of about twenty volunteers led by organizer Bianka Klemt, who manage setup, decoration, and operations. The club also uses the festival to raise its profile: in 2027, the Vegesacker Schützenverein will celebrate its 175th anniversary. The success of the Adventszauber also inspired a spring offshoot, the Pfingstzauber (Pentecost Magic).
In the north of Bremen, far from the large city center Christmas markets, the Adventszauber offers a quiet, handmade alternative for the pre-Christmas season. With free admission and accessible halls, it is a meeting point for families and craft enthusiasts from Aumund, Vegesack, and the entire region.
Also in 2026, the Vegesacker Schützenverein invites you to the Adventszauber in its Schützenhalle on Hermann-Löns-Straße on the first Advent weekend. In festively decorated pavilions, over 40 exhibitors present arts and crafts, design, and culinary specialties. Mulled wine, bratwurst, fries, and the traditional cake buffet are included. Admission is free, and the halls are accessible.
A special feature is the internal club cake obligation: exhibitors bring homemade cakes or contribute, ensuring the cake buffet is well-stocked throughout. The market is run by a team of about twenty volunteers led by organizer Bianka Klemt.
Admission is free. Food, drinks, and goods from the stands are paid for on-site. The exhibition spaces are accessible, and parking is available directly in front of the hall.
The Schützenhalle is located at Hermann-Löns-Straße 16, 28755 Bremen, in the Aumund-Hammersbeck district (Vegesack borough). Parking is available in front of the hall; the exhibition areas are accessible.
The market takes place on the weekend of the 1st Advent, Saturdays from approximately 1 PM to 7 PM and Sundays from approximately 11 AM to 5 PM. Admission is free.
