Open-air concert with Roland Kaiser on Münsterplatz as part of the Ulm Schwörwochenende
The Schwörwochenende is Ulm's most important local festival and, at the same time, one of the oldest city festivals in Germany. The highlight is Schwörmontag (Swearing Monday), when the Lord Mayor takes his oath in a historic ceremony before the assembled citizens — a tradition that has been unbroken since 1397. The preceding Schwörwochenende complements the official swearing ceremony with a broad program of events — a torchlight serenade on the Danube, Nabada (water parade), jousting on rafts, market days, and open-air concerts.
The DONAU 3 FM Schwörkonzert is one of the major open-air concerts of the weekend. The organizer is the regional radio station DONAU 3 FM in cooperation with the City of Ulm. In 2026, the concert will be performed by Roland Kaiser — one of the most prominent and longest-lasting German Schlager stars. With his career beginning in 1976 and hits spanning several decades, Roland Kaiser has built a loyal fan base across all generations. On Münsterplatz, the audience can expect a best-of program with classics and newer songs.
The venue is Münsterplatz directly in front of the Ulmer Münster — the world's tallest church spire (161.53 meters). The Gothic architecture of the Münster forms one of the most spectacular open-air backdrops in southern Germany. The spacious square can accommodate several thousand spectators and is used multiple times during the Schwörwochenende for various events.
Ulm (city district in the state of Baden-Württemberg, 08421, around 130,000 inhabitants) is located on the Danube and shares the Danube bridge, and thus the state border, with Neu-Ulm in Bavaria. The Schwörwochenende is the identity-defining local festival for the people of Ulm — a tradition cultivated for centuries, which turns the entire city into a festival ground in July and attracts thousands of visitors to the Danube city.
On Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 7:30 PM, DONAU 3 FM will present the Schwörkonzert with Roland Kaiser on Münsterplatz in Ulm. One of the major open-air concerts of the Ulm Schwörwochenende — embedded in the multi-day festival program, which includes some of Ulm's most popular traditional events such as the historic swearing ceremony on Weinhof on Schwörmontag, the torchlight serenade on the Danube, the Nabada, and the jousting on rafts.
Roland Kaiser will bring his proven best-of program with the great hits of his career to the Münsterplatz stage — 'Santa Maria', 'Dich zu lieben', 'Joana', 'Sieben Fässer Wein', and many more. A cross-generational show in one of southern Germany's most spectacular open-air settings.
