The Moselle as a Musical Region

The Mosel Musikfestival has existed since 1985 and has become the leading cultural brand of the Moselle region. It hosts around 50 concerts annually at venues between Trier, Bernkastel-Kues, and Koblenz. The venues are a core part of its identity: Romanesque monasteries, baroque churches, Renaissance castles, and historic wine cellars provide the concerts with exceptional acoustic and atmospheric quality.

Venues in the Trier-Saarburg District

In the Trier-Saarburg district, several festival concerts are concentrated in the Saarburg region and the municipalities of Konz, Schweich, and Saarburg-Kell. Concerts take place here in parish churches, wineries, and cultural centers. The Urban Piano concert on June 18 in Saarburg is particularly noteworthy, a format that brings a modern piano set into the public urban space.

Program Diversity

The musical spectrum ranges from chamber music and symphony orchestras to baroque specialist ensembles, jazz, world music, and crossover projects. Top international soloists and renowned German and European ensembles perform regularly. The festival clearly positions itself in the high-quality classical segment but also opens up to younger audiences through cross-genre series.

Festival Opening and Season Highlights

The 2026 season runs from July 23 to October 3. The opening traditionally takes place at a prominent venue; in the Trier-Saarburg district, several concerts are spread throughout the summer-autumn season. Tickets are sold centrally through the Mosel Musikfestival. Those who want to combine Moselle classical music with wine and landscape experiences have over ten weeks to choose from.
