A Marketplace for Volunteering and Engagement

Aachen zeigt Engagement is the annual stage for the civil society diversity of the city of Charlemagne. On Saturday, May 30, 2026, between 12 PM and 5 PM, over 185 non-profit clubs, initiatives, and citizen groups will make their work visible – sports clubs alongside refugee aid, nature conservation next to cultural associations, religious and secular initiatives, established large organizations like Caritas and DRK alongside small neighborhood projects. The concert area in Aachen's Stadtpark on Monheimsallee provides the ideal setting: large enough for a city festival, intimate enough for personal conversations.

Over 185 Clubs — Record 2026

The 2026 edition builds on the successful premiere in 2024 and the subsequent event in 2025. According to the press release from the City of Aachen dated February 5, 2026, the third day of action recorded a record number of registrations. The stands range from classic club stands with flyers and hands-on activities to interactive mini-workshops, quiz stations, and consultation formats. Two Stages — Music, Dance, Sports

The day of action is accompanied by a diverse stage program: live music by regional bands, dance performances (from ballet to hip-hop), sports demonstrations (cheerleading, martial arts, acrobatics), as well as short talk rounds with representatives of the presented initiatives. Two stages ensure that the programs do not overlap – and that there is acoustic quiet during breaks.

Stadtpark and Concert Area — Aachen's Open-Air Venue

The Aachener Stadtpark on Monheimsallee is one of the green lungs of the city center and is traditionally used for large events. The concert area, an open meadow with a permanent stage structure, can accommodate several thousand visitors – ideal for the combination of an exhibition market and stage program. Access by bus, bicycle, and on foot is excellent (proximity to the city center).

Engagement Policy in a University City

With its approximately 50,000 students (RWTH, FH) and a strong Catholic-civic tradition, Aachen is a city with an exceptionally high density of clubs. "Aachen zeigt Engagement" serves equally as a stage and an advertising platform: clubs gain members and volunteers, citizens discover engagement options they were previously unaware of. The day of action is part of a broader city strategy to strengthen civil society.

Free Admission and for Everyone

Admission to the day of action is free. Food and drinks are offered at various club stands – many at solidarity prices, with proceeds going to the respective club projects. Families are explicitly welcome; many stands have activities for children.
