Volkslauf (public run) through Aachen City Park — from Bambini run to 8 km main run, a highlight in the Regio Aachen Running Cup, Sunday, May 31, 2026
The Aachener Stadtparklauf is a young, rapidly growing running event in Aachen's sports scene. Organized by the Athletics department of TSV Alemannia Aachen, it presents the Aachener Stadtpark — one of North Rhine-Westphalia's most beautiful urban park areas — as a Volkslauf (public run) stage. The 4th edition will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026, presented by Carolus Thermen, the city's well-known wellness complex.
Six competitions, from the youngest to ambitious hobby runners:
Since its 2nd edition (2024), the Stadtparklauf has contributed to the scoring of the Regio Aachen Running Cup — the unofficial Volkslauf (public run) championship of the Aachen region (Düren, Heinsberg, Aachen city and region, bordering the Netherlands and Belgium). Scoring is based on several Volksläufe (public runs) in the region.
The Aachener Stadtpark is located north of the city center, between Monheimsallee and Soerser Weg. It is one of the oldest city parks in Germany (established in the 19th century) — with old trees, ponds, the Großer Brunnen, and winding paths. The course leads through the entire park, away from car traffic, with small inclines and shaded sections. The Carolus Thermen are located directly by the park and offer the ideal relaxation after the run.
In addition to the runs, the start/finish area offers:
Aachen is the westernmost major city in Germany, located in the tri-border area with the Netherlands and Belgium. Known for Charlemagne's Cathedral, the CHIO equestrian tournament, and the RWTH — the city has a diverse sports scene. TSV Alemannia Aachen (Athletics) is one of the city's most traditional clubs; the Stadtparklauf complements Aachen's well-known sports program with an accessible, family-friendly Volkslauf (public run).
