Double anniversary of the village community and fire brigade in the Münnerstadt district
The anniversary festival in Seubrigshausen in 2026 is an extraordinary event: the village, a district of the Lower Franconian town of Münnerstadt in the Bad Kissingen district, is celebrating its 900th anniversary — its first documented mention dates back to 1126. At the same time, the Seubrigshausen Volunteer Fire Brigade is celebrating its 150th anniversary — founded in 1876, it is one of the oldest volunteer fire brigades in the region.
Over the extended weekend from June 20 to 22, 2026, the village center around the village square, the parish church, and the fire station will be transformed into a continuous festival area. Several marquees and pavilions will be erected, a stage for live music will be installed, and market stalls from clubs and local businesses will line the main street. The program aims for the broadest possible participation from the village community and the surrounding Münnerstadt districts.
The highlight is the grand parade on the festival Sunday, featuring traditional costume groups, music bands, friendly fire brigades with their historical vehicles (hand-pumpers, old portable pumps, veteran fire engines), clubs, and floats depicting the history of the village and the fire brigade. Such parades on fire brigade anniversaries are major family events in Franconia — firefighters from all over the region come to visit.
In addition, there will be cultural performances: the local folk dance group, the singing club, the music band, and the theater group will present their repertoire. A small exhibition in the multi-purpose hall will document the history of the village and the fire brigade — old photos, documents, badges of honor, uniforms.
Seubrigshausen, with its nearly 500 inhabitants, is a classic Lower Franconian farming village. The parish church, the old schoolhouse, the typical half-timbered farmhouses along the main street, and the surrounding fields present an authentic picture. The double anniversary in 2026 is a unique event that the entire village community has been preparing for months.
The 2026 anniversary celebration is an extraordinary event for the Seubrigshausen village community: the village turns 900 years old (first documented mention 1126), and the Volunteer Fire Brigade celebrates its 150th anniversary (founded 1876). The program aims for a comprehensive three-day festival event with a marquee, stage, and market stalls.
The joint anniversary combines the strengths of the village community and the fire brigade — a tradition proven in Franconian farming villages.
