Playing as a Connecting Experience

The association Norddeutsche Spielekultur e.V. promotes communal gaming as a cultural practice: not as a competition, but as a shared experience that connects generations, educational backgrounds, and languages. With the Spielefest at the SOS Mütterzentrum Salzgitter-Bad, the association brings this mission very concretely to Salzgitter: for one afternoon, the table is the meeting point, and the game is the common language.

Date and Location

The 2026 Spielefest takes place on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 1 PM to 6 PM at the SOS Mütterzentrum Salzgitter-Bad. The rooms of the center will be equipped with dozens of game tables where open rounds can be formed – just sit down and join in.

Game Selection

The association brings a wide selection from its collection:

• Family Games – Classics like "Mensch ärgere Dich nicht", "Halma", "Rummikub", "Carcassonne", "Catan", "Azul"
• Children's Games – "Obstgarten", "Erste Spiele", dice games, simple memory games
• Strategy Games – "Terra Mystica", "Brass Birmingham", "Wingspan", "Stone Age", "Power Grid"
• Party Games – "Codenames", "Just One", "Kakerlaken-Poker", "Werwolf"
• Card Games – Skat, Doppelkopf, Schafkopf, Bridge, Uno, Phase 10
• Dexterity Games – Mikado, Domino, Tower building, Jenga

Explanation Bears and Open Rounds

Experienced members of the association act as Erklärbären: they explain rules, mediate between player groups, organize new rounds when someone arrives alone, and ensure a relaxed atmosphere. No one needs to bring or know a game – the concept thrives on spontaneous participation.

Refreshments and Extras

The Mütterzentrum provides coffee, tea, cake, and small snacks at affordable prices. For children, there is a separate area with age-appropriate games and – depending on the program – a small craft corner. Admission is free.
