The classic 'Prunksitzung' (grand session) is the central format of the South German carnival tradition. The Frankenthaler Carneval Verein von 1820 e.V. has cultivated this form for over 200 years and has made it a hallmark of its club work.

FCV — Oldest Carnival Club in Southern Germany

The FCV was founded in 1820 — at a time when organized carnival clubs were forming in the Rhenish and Palatinate cities after the Napoleonic Wars. Over 200 years of club history make the FCV one of the oldest and most traditional carnival clubs in Southern Germany. With the 'Große Prunksitzung', the club cultivates the heart of its club work.
