Municipal Anniversary on the Outskirts of Berlin
Dallgow-Döberitz is a twin municipality in the Havelland district, located directly west of Berlin and easily accessible via the Hamburg railway line (RE4). The municipality has around 11,000 inhabitants and has grown into a popular residential community in the Berlin commuter belt in recent decades – a mix of historic village cores, modern housing estates, commuters from Spandau, and Berliners seeking an escape from the city.
Dallgow was likely first mentioned in documents around 1271. In 2026, the municipality will celebrate its 755th anniversary – an occasion to reflect on its own history. Over the centuries, Dallgow has evolved from a rural Märkisch village into a modern suburban community. The anniversary festival aims to make this history visible while simultaneously showcasing the present-day community.
The festival concept utilizes two main locations: the station forecourt and the town hall. Both will feature stages, market stalls, and festival areas. The program offers diverse music and show performances across all genres and art forms. Market stalls, historical costumes for rent, and interactive activities complement the festival events. Associations, schools, kindergartens, and citizens actively participate in shaping the festival.
The municipality of Dallgow-Döberitz called for participation in advance: artists, musicians, comedians, craftspeople, businesses, schools, and associations can register to contribute to the festival. Those wishing to wear historical costumes can also sign up. This broad participation gives the 2026 anniversary festival a distinctly participatory character – it is intended to be a festival that Dallgow-Döberitz shapes itself and showcases to the entire Havelland region. With direct train connections to Berlin (RE4), the festival is also easily accessible for Berlin visitors – a great format for an unconventional summer day in the Brandenburg commuter belt.
From Saturday, July 4 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, the municipality of Dallgow-Döberitz will celebrate its 755th anniversary with a two-day folk festival (Volksfest). Two main locations will be used: the station forecourt and the town hall – both located directly in the center of the municipality.
Throughout both days, stage programs, market stalls, and interactive activities will shape the event. The music and show program spans across genres – pop, rock, Schlager, classical, comedy, dance. Historical costumes can be rented, and associations, schools, kindergartens, and citizens actively participate in shaping the festival. Free admission.
