Village festival for the 707th anniversary of the first documented mention
The village of Fürstenwerder in Nordwestuckermark was first documented in 1319 — and celebrates this anniversary every year in June. The 2026 edition marks the 707th anniversary of the first documented mention, an occasion that may not sound as spectacular as a 700th or 750th anniversary — yet it is celebrated in the village with the same dedication. The festival is an integral part of Fürstenwerder's annual rhythm, bringing together the entire village, all clubs, the fire department, the primary school, and many guests from the region.
The village festival begins on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 10 a.m. in the Festgarten (festival garden) in the heart of Fürstenwerder. The morning is dedicated to the flea market organized by the primary school (this volunteer-run event has been a magnet for families from the surrounding area for years) and the cake bazaar by the school support association. For children, there's a bouncy castle and face painting; at lunchtime, the classic hearty fare is served: goulash soup from the goulash cannon and grilled items.
The musical opening in the afternoon is by FKK (Faschings- und Karnevalsklub — Carnival and Mardi Gras Club from the region) on the open-air stage — a traditional performance by the local carnival scene with guards, show, and male ballet. This performance has been a firm fixture of the village festival for years and is a highlight for the older generation of the village.
From the evening onwards, dancing takes over: DJ Nick and the live band "Die Herzöge" (The Dukes) will ensure a lively atmosphere. Die Herzöge are a well-known Brandenburg dance band with a repertoire ranging from Schlager to German rock to international charts — perfect for a multi-generational dancing audience under the open summer sky.
Fürstenwerder is a district of the municipality of Nordwestuckermark in the Uckermark district, in the very north of Brandenburg. The village is located in the heart of the Fürstenwerder Lake District — a little-known but scenically charming water landscape with numerous small lakes, forests, and old avenues. Visitors to the village festival can combine their stay with hikes, bike tours, or boat trips. The local tourist office offers maps and suggestions.
Tickets are available in advance for €6 (at Knaufi in the village) and at the box office for €8. Children pay a reduced price or nothing (see organizer). The price is deliberately kept low — the festival is intended to remain affordable for everyone.
