Three Prunksitzungen of the oldest carnival club in Landau for the 2025/26 season with the princely couple Wiebke I and Jan I
The Landauer Carneval-Verein Narrhalla e.V. 1843 is not just any carnival club: it is the oldest carnival club in the town of Landau and one of the oldest in the entire Palatinate. Founded in the Vormärz year of 1843, before the founding of the German Empire, the LCV has written over 180 years of carnival history. The club colors, the tradition of the Prunksitzungen, the election of the princely couple and the cultivation of the Palatinate dialect carnival continue to shape club life to this day.
Unlike most carnival clubs, which make do with one or two Prunksitzungen per season, the LCV traditionally holds three Prunksitzungen. This exceptional program density reflects the strong membership base and the high demand for tickets. In the 2025/2026 season, the sessions take place on January 24th, January 31st and February 7th, 2026, each at 7:11 PM, the traditional jester's start time of Palatinate Prunksitzungen.
The three sessions take place at different venues in the town of Landau. The 1st Prunksitzung on January 24th, 2026 kicks off the season phase with the first major event. The 2nd Prunksitzung on January 31st, 2026 takes place at the Dorfgemeinschaftshaus Mörlheim, a deliberate move to one of the town's villages to maintain the LCV's close connection with the Landau village culture. The 3rd Prunksitzung on February 7th, 2026 marks the highlight of the season phase.
Every LCV season is represented by a princely couple, who attend the events and shape the public face of the club. For the 2025/2026 season, Wiebke I and Jan I are the princely couple, united, as the local press reports, by their shared love of motorcycling. This personal touch makes the princely couple sympathetic representatives of the club.
The LCV Prunksitzungen follow the classic dramaturgy of Palatinate carnival evenings: entrance of the Elferrat (council of eleven) and the princely couple, welcome by the president, performances by dance groups, several Büttenreden (satirical speeches) in Palatinate dialect, musical contributions, sketches and show acts by friendly clubs. With over 180 years of history, the club program is deeply rooted in the Landau carnival culture.
The 2025/2026 season marks the 183rd season of the LCV, an exceptional continuity that few clubs in Germany can boast. Three Prunksitzungen in close succession make it possible to present the extensive club program and the numerous active dance and show groups to the widest possible audience. The princely couple Wiebke I and Jan I will take on the central representations across the three sessions.
Opening event of the season phase. Entrance of the princely couple and the Elferrat. Classic Prunksitzung program with dance groups, Büttenreden, sketches and show acts.
Move to the Landau village of Mörlheim. Classic Prunksitzung program in the special atmosphere of the Dorfgemeinschaftshaus. Stronger local roots in the town's villages.
Highlight of the season phase. Full program with all the club's highlights, supplemented by guest appearances from friendly carnival clubs. Grand finale with the traditional exit of all active members.
