About CSD Delmenhorst

Christopher Street Day Delmenhorst is entering its second year in 2026. On September 19th, the streets around Rathausplatz will transform into a vibrant, powerful parade for diversity, equality, and queer visibility. The demonstration march starts at 3 PM at Rathausplatz and proceeds through the city center; afterwards, a rally with music, art performances, and speeches will take place. At its premiere in 2025, between 1,500 and 2,500 people participated – the second edition aims to build on this success. The organizers are the association CSD Delmenhorst (Sam Haarmann, Carolin Kresse), supported by the city administration, the police, churches, and social organizations. A clear statement for an open, diverse Delmenhorst.

Premiere 2025 and New Beginnings 2026

With its premiere in 2025, Delmenhorst has joined the ranks of Lower Saxony cities hosting a Christopher Street Day. The response was overwhelming: 1,500 to 2,500 people from Delmenhorst and the region participated in the demonstration march, celebrating a clear commitment to diversity. The second edition in 2026 aims to build on this success and further establish the format.

Demonstration March from Rathausplatz

The demonstration march starts on September 19, 2026, at 3 PM at Rathausplatz. With rainbow flags, banners, and creative messages, the colorful procession moves through Delmenhorst's city center. The route will be coordinated in advance by the organizers and the police. Anyone wishing to march is welcome – expressions of solidarity from all parts of the city society are explicitly encouraged.

Rally with Music and Art

Following the demonstration, the central rally will feature music, art, and speeches. Representatives of the association, the city, organizations, and queer communities will speak about current political issues, personal experiences, and the significance of CSD as an annual statement.

Association and Sponsorship

The organizer is the association CSD Delmenhorst, with Sam Haarmann and Carolin Kresse active on its board. The association receives broad support from the Delmenhorst city administration, the police, churches, and various social organizations. This broad sponsorship underscores the non-partisan, societal character of the event.

Stonewall and the CSD Background

Christopher Street Day commemorates the riots at Christopher Street in New York in June 1969, considered the beginning of the modern LGBTQ+ movement. Today, CSD worldwide stands for visibility, acceptance, and equal rights for all people, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Families, Allies, and Supporters Welcome

CSD Delmenhorst sees itself as an open event. Allies, families, friends, and supporters from all areas of society are warmly invited to show their solidarity and collectively create a colorful city experience.
